Traveling

I spent time over the 5 continents. I have a preference for self-organized trips that preserve flexibility,  allow slow traveling, mostly walking or making use of public transportation, offering opportunities for reading or thinking.
Traveling is an excellent opportunity to meet people, to learn from diverse cultures,   to improve language and communication skills.

Being outside his cultural comfort zone maintains an open mind, develops the capacity to acclimate more easily, opens doors to more creative solutions.

Hiking

Hiking several days away from the first village, with no mobile connection, in changing weather conditions, extreme temperatures, very high altitude, 10 hours a day on hard slopes might be challenging.
But it rests my mind, shows me I could live with much less, and encourage me to remain creative, to take (well thought) risks in my professional career.
Long-distance trekking also develops autonomy, self-confidence, problem-solving or decision making, endurance, and solidarity.

Nature

I followed a "Nature guide" course about trees, flowers, insects, mammals, birds, amphibians, ecology, weather, geology, soils, stars, and more.
Aside from my interest in the topic, studies show that being in nature reduces stress, allows disconnection from daily worries, and provides an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, helps to feel focused, is right for your body, mind, and soul.
It is in this environment that I often found my best professional creative ideas.

Art and culture

As a teenager, I spent a lot of time drawing, writing, and reading novels. I still read a lot, though, mostly non-fictional books. On the artistic side, I now attend photography courses.
My museum pass, valid in many Belgian museums, allows me to be curious about any art or knowledge at a low cost.
Those interests give me joy in front of beauty, feed my creativity, communication skills, and continuous learning process.

Marathons

Running helps me de-stressing daily, gives me time to talk to (running) friends, strategizes about work, and sometimes connects with strangers. It keeps me both mentally and physically fit.
Marathon training also requires working hard towards goals, focus, commitment, discipline, self-motivation, perseverance, energy levels management, self-transcendence, optimism, learning to deal with setbacks, ...
